Yar’Adua’s Men Move To Stop Jonathan

A fresh plot by loyalists of ailing president Umar Musa Yar’Adua to stop acting president Goodluck Jonathan from entrenching himself in power has been uncovered. Sources in the presidential villa told iReports-ng that some Yar’adua’s men may have concluded arrangements with the first family to bring back the president to his seat in a bid to scuttle Jonathan’s growing influence and abort what they call his hidden agenda.

It was learnt that the Yar’Adua’s men had stumbled on some intelligence reports indicating that Jonathan might have sacked the cabinet constituted by Yar’adua when he was finding it difficult to get them to invoke section 144 of the constitution that would have led to the removal of Yar’Adua on health grounds and make him a substantive president. Convinced that the first assignment of the new cabinet when reconstituted would be to dislodge Yar’Adua from the villa, his men have decided to pre-empt the Jonathan’s camp by bringing the president back to his desk in any form.

The fresh plot which may cause a lot of discomfort in the polity may likely come to fruition between now and next week if the acting president tarries a little longer in reconstituting his cabinet. The information about Yar’Adua’s likely resumption has however begun to generate fears and apprehension in the villa and within the security circle. The president is believed to be full of last minute surprises like this just like he did when he was governor of Katsina state. He had gone for six months on health grounds and just as his deputy then was about to consolidate his grip on power , Yar’Adua emerged and flushed him out of government for disloyalty.
