Breaking News!! Occupy Nigeria Protests Kick Off As Protesters Storm Abuja Eagle Square With Tents, Blankets, Food
Ahead of tomorrow’s nationwide strike and protest called by the coalition of labour movement and civil society organisations, some protesters have started arriving the popular Eagle square in Abuja this night.
Armed with tents, blankets, clothings and food, the protesters who appeared determined to sleep under the cold weather of Abuja looked undaunted by the decision of stern looking policemen who have used armoured vehicles to block all entrances to the Eagle square as they put their tents by the road side ready for days of war with a waning Jonathan administration.
ireports-ng.com gathered that some of the protesters travelled from outside Abuja to participate in the protest even as there are indications that they may set up tents in other areas of the capital city.
It is obvious the administration may have underestimated the determination of the protesters as they have settled for liberation songs of Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Bob Marley blaring from the music systems of their vehicles to encourage themselves and draw attention.
Some of the protesters numbering about 30 already were also seen by our correspondent as at 10 pm local time preparing placards they intend to use for their protest tomorrow.
