SNG and Allies Condemn Deployment Of Troops, Reject N97 Pump Price

The Save Nigeria Group(SNG) and its allies flay the deployment of troops and tanks to the Gani Fawehimi Fredom Square at Ojota,Lagos, which has hosted our  peaceful and popular protests for five days running last week.

To the credit of the organizers of the protests and the maturity of the millions of Nigeria who have trooped to the rally ground, we have had violence free gatherings for days with great comportment and no loss of life, damage to property or violation of any law of the land.

It is therefore curious that a democratic government would deploy military tanks and troops against such a peaceful assembly of the people in clear violation of the constitutionally guaranteed right of the citizens to freely assemble and express their feelings.

This is a clear case of intolerance and shutting of the democratic space against the people of Nigeria which must be condemned by all democracy loving people around the world.

We have equally reviewed the broadcast of President Goodluck Jonathan  where he unilaterally offered to reduce the pump price of petrol to N97 per litre.
This tokenism shows that the display of people power in the last few days has not been in vain but it is far little to be acceptable.

We demand a reversal to the pre-Jan 1 pump price of N65 per litre as a basis for a conducive atmosphere for a national conversation on the oil sector and how to deal with the corruption that has brought this needless crisis on the 7th largest producer of crude in the world that has been made to depend on import for it’s refined product consumption.

In the meantime,we ask our people who have  made tremendous sacrifices in the last few days to comply with the stay-at-home directive as a continuation of this mass action and await further directives.

We salute the resilience of our people who have demonstrated that they have all it takes to fight for their rights on a sustained basis in the most peaceful manner to the chagrin of their adversaries.

The seed of permanent change had been sown in our land and it would germinate and bear the fruits of freedom.

God bless the people of Nigeria!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!

Pastor Tunde Bakare.
Convener,SNG.

In all honesty we are going about all this the wrong way. First I must say a very big thank you to the organizers and every body who has joined the demonstration so far. I want to say however that while the fuel prices must come back to where it was before the end of the year(which is still very expensive considering we have more of it than we can use resulting in our export) we must also start to ask Jonathan to leave office and be tried for the atrocities he’s committed, the house of assembly shoul be dissolved pending a new election and Jonathan and any military officer responsible for any Nigerian death should be tried.
As an elected government there are lines you MUST not cross and unleashing the country military on its people for exercising their constitutional right to demonstrate is one of those lines and nothing short of a resignation will do. So please Nigerians if we let Jonathan get away with this it will only get worse. Jonathan is only able to do this cos we let them get away with looting an corruption so it gets worse. He need to step down and brought to justice.
To those who think Jonathan is their brother I beg of you, wake up. Nigeria is bigger than a city. I am from the same part of Nigeria and the man must be brought to justice and his aides should remind him is an elected civilian gov, not a military dictator and it is against the Nigerian constitution to unleash the Nigerian Army(Which is supposed to protect the people) against the people. Jonathan have clearly gone way too far. I beg of every Nigerian out there to please demand his handover and call for justice. Our military is to protect not to bully us. If the military is there to bully us then we might as well call for a constitutional vote to scrap it period. Time we all as a people do our bit to shape this country the way we want for the sake of our children. Now our kids will be walking the streets with some military with AK47 or whatever everywhere. This is not on

It is an attempted genocide by deploying †ђε soldiers to harass a non-violent protest

We have provided †ђε solution, this country is blessed with so much resources that have not been harnessed or even illegally tapped by some few.

Do you know we have so much solid minerals that can earn us so much than we earn from oil?

Do you know that our agricultural sector can earn us as much as we earn on oil?

What would be †ђε benefitand perks of the citizenry where oil is sold at †ђε international price to them?

Jonathan and his ministers (cohorts) address †ђε nation as if we do not have †ђε minds of intellectuals.

He ORDERED us back to work when his dogs (soldiers) are on †ђε streets searching all vehicles- assuming we all go to work today, would you imagine †ђε traffic that we would have encountered?

Why can’t he stop †ђε Boko haram menace?

Why is he harassing arm-less Nigerians with armed soldiers? The Nigeria police is enough to contain us

What Jonathan does not know is that †ђε creation cannot be greater than †ђε creator- Nigerians made him †ђε president and therefore, we are greater than him.

Jonathan has signed his impeachment proceedings and †ђε Nigerian revolution.
