Reps Disown Farouk Lawan, Jagaban Over $3million Bribery
The attention of the House of Representatives has been drawn to reports alleging that one of its members, has in the course of his committee work as a member of the ad hoc committee which investigated the subsidy regime, allegedly received a gratification from an oil baron to exonerate his companies from complicity in the oil subsidy scam.
While we await investigation into these weighty accusations, we wish to state without equivocation that this Honourable House will never take side with corruption and we will always stand on the side of the rule of law.
The reason we inaugurated the ad hoc committee to look into the controversial subsidy regime in the first place was to expose corruption in the sector, as such, we cannot, for whatever reason, support any underhand dealing from any quarter.
However, these accusations, what ever their merits, do not detract from the quality of the work done by the committee. The report of that committee was adopted by the whole House and we stand by the resolutions of the House.
The present House of Representatives will not relent in it’s efforts to render quality legislation and oversight functions to Nigerians. Today, we are gradually beginning to see the end of this monstrosity that has bedeviled our progress as a nation for so long.
We hope that the Executive will not, because of this allegation, abandon it’s commitment towards bringing to justice, the culprits already identified in the committee’s report.
Signed
Hon Zakari Muhammed
Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs

Come to think of it why is it that when big shots are been investigated that the investigators are always turned to the accused? Personally I think something is wrong somewhere. Take for instance EFCC boss Lamorde is been investigated for alleged N80 million bribe from wale babalakin, chairman house committee on SEC herman Hembe is been investigated and now Farouk Lawan. I am not saying they did or did not collect the bribe but the way and manner the presidency rush into investigating them show element of setup to create distraction and eventually end the initial case. I stand to be corrected if someone thinks otherwise.

Whoever made this release should listen to himself. Isn’t it logical to expect that if a culprit had paid to get himself exonerated there are chances other smart culprits had also been left out un-indicted in that report? Isn’t it also logical to assume some innocents might have made the list just because they didn’t pay bribes? It stands reason on its head therefore to advise that such tainted report should be adopted. You cannot build truth on falsehood and certainly not justice on falsehood As the bible says, a little yeast affects the whole dough. These are rotten people and it is the tragedy of our nation that it always get ruled by charlatans.

Nonsense. Arrant nonsense. You members of the national assembly suck. You have rubbished whatever is left of your integrity. If I were the president of Nigeria I will move for a single house as we have at the state level and reduce your number drastically; and you know what Nigerians will support him. You see why your resolutions are ingnored by the executive and even your bills not assented to.
