One Injured In Another Bomb Explosion In Kaduna

Fear again gripped residents of Kaduna today as another bomb explosion rocked the city. The blast which is coming barely two weeks after three churches in Kaduna and Zaria were attacked by Boko Haram insurgents was said to have occurred along Kaduna-Zaria expressway leaving one person critically injured.

Reports about the blast had earlier gone round the metropolis indicating that scores had been killed by the explosion, thus causing serious panic.

A resident who spoke with ireports-ng.com narrated that the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at Mararaban Jos, a settlement along Kaduna-Zaria Express Way. A Nigerian Army spokesman however calmed nerves saying that no life was lost in the explosion.

The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Mechanized Division, Colonel Sani Usman said “contrary to the way people described the incident, there were no casualties. However, one person sustained some injuries but he has been taken care of and now recuperating”. He stressed that soldiers had already been deployed to the scene and have cordoned-off the area.
