Jonathan Holds Emergency Meeting With Security Chiefs
Barely 24 hours after the escalation of killings in Plateau state,President Goodluck Jonathan today held an emergency closed-door meeting with the nation’s security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Though weekly security meeting is usually held every Tuesday, it is however believed that the three-hour meeting today is as a result of the escalation of the Jos crisis which has claimed over 100 lives, including those of Senator Gyang Dantong and the Majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Gyang Fulani who were both killed on Sunday during a mass burial for some 63 victims of a previous attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Those who attended the meeting with President Jonathan presiding include the National security adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, the chief of Defence staff, Oluseyi Petinrin; Minister of State, Defence, Mrs. Olusola Obada; Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade; Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro; acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Ola Ibrahim; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar; and the Director-General, State Security Service, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong.
