Oshiomhole Issues Ultimatum To Works Minister On Sabo-Sobe Road
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has issued an ultimatum to the Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolemenmen to construct the Sabo-Sobe road in Owan West Local Government Area before year-end or the state government will start the construction of the road next year.
The governor who disclosed the decision of the state government during his re-election campaign at Sobe, said if the federal Ministry of Works refused to do the road, Edo state government will put it in the state 2013 budget.
“If the Minister for Works does not carry out construction of the Sabo-Sobe road which has always been in the Federal Government budget, it will be provided for in the 2013 budget of the state government and work will start next year,” he noted.
According to him, “if they don’t do it, I will tell them the state government is in charge of the land. From January 1, Edo State government will take over the road to ensure that your full presence will be felt in Edo state.”
The Governor told the large turnout of electorate at the St. Stephen Primary School, Sobe, that the people can see the difference between the projects executed by the PDP and the Action Congress of Nigeria.
“With immediate effect, we will demolish the dilapidated structures of the school built by the PDP and replace it with a new school of modern quality. We have awarded the contract to build the Sobe High School and we will furnish the primary and secondary schools with modern furniture,” he disclosed.
The governor assured the people that the government will provide another water borehole in addition to the one already done, noting that one borehole is not enough to reticulate water to every part of the community.
“We must complete the schools we have started, we must ensure that water continues to flow in Sobe. We will liaise with the local government to build and equip health centres in Sobe, we will develop Sobe so that you will all jubilate that you are in Edo state,” the governor added.
The rally witnessed the decamping of over fifty members of the PDP to the Action Congress of Nigeria led by Pascal Osariemen who said they never knew that they have been in darkness for a long time.
