Military Shuns Northern Governors’ Warning…Insists On Flushing Out Recalcitrant Residents
The special military task force in Plateau State has warned that it will not succumb to the blackmail from Northern governors on its planned military action in four fulani villages in the state even as it restated its earlier warning to the inhabitants of the affected communities in Riyom and Barakin Ladi Local government areas to vacate the area and evacuate their belongings in their own interest or face forceful ejection effective from 12 midnight today to enable the task force flush out terrorists operating in these villages: Mahanga, Kakuruk, Kuzen, Matseh, and Shong 2.
The Commander of the STF, Major General Henry Ayoola said today that residents of Kura-Falls, Kuzuk and Sharuk, Rim of Gashishi and Bachit districts should also be courteous of how they move about; adding that the military operation would go on until further notice.
He condemned the insinuations by the Northern governors and others that the purpose of the military operations in the troubled local government areas of the state was to sack fulani herdsmen from their domains.He explained that the decision for the operations was in line with the International Humanitarian Law and consistent with best global practices, warning that it should not be construed otherwise.
The task force commander said the affected villages are not occupied predominantly by any tribe stressing that the action is planned in the interest of the inhabitants of the area adding that the notice is for the few that are still within the theater of operation.
