Two Govt Officials Shot Dead In Bayelsa Gun Attack
Two top officials of the Bayelsa state government were today shot dead by five armed men suspected to be cultists. The victims were identified as aides to Governor Henry Senriake Dickson.The shooting which occurred at about 8.45 am local time has however sent  residents of Yenagoa into panic.
According to residents of the area, the victims were driving in a black colour Infiniti Jeep with registration number GBJ 154 AA along Goodnews Street close to the new House of Assembly quarters when a Mazda car suddenly blocked it before it could negotiate the bend on the road.The gunmen numbering five were said to be armed with AK47 and dressed in plain T- Shirts with bullet-proof vests. They shot their two victims from the side window and moved to the front of the car where they further sprayed the car with bullets.
 The state police command spokesman, Fidelis Odunna who confirmed the incident said investigation was on to establish if the attack was a case of armed robbery or assassination. He said the gunmen ransacked the vehicle of their victims and made away with unspecified items.
 Odunna who said the two corpses have been deposited in the morgue added that State Central Investigation Department is on top of the matter, even as
 he assured residents of their safety.
