Explosion Kills 4 In Port Harcourt…Others Wounded

Four persons were today killed in a gas explosion in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The incident occurred along Eliozu Airport Road, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state capital. The explosion was said to have come from a gas cylinder used at a panel-beater workshop, leaving charred bodies of victims scattered on the ground.
Eyewitnesses said while two persons died on the way to the hospital, two other victims died on the spot with their body parts scattered all over the workshop. Two more persons who escaped death were however wounded.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who confirmed the incident however declined to give any casualty figure.
