Tambuwal, Wamakko, Other APC Leaders Reject Buhari’s Ministerial Nominee For Sokoto State

Major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state, including former Governor Aliyu Wamakko and incumbent Governor Aminu Tambuwal have called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to as matter of urgency substitute the name of the state ministerial nominee, Mrs Aisha Abubakar, from the list awaiting senate screening.

Briefing journalists shortly after a stakeholders meeting held at the Presidential lodge, Sokoto, today, the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Uman Danmadami Isa argued that the nominee is an unknown personality to the people of the state. He said the meeting was convened to deliberate on the emergence of the nominee who was outrightly rejected by all the party stakeholders.

His words: “We outrightly reject the nomination of Mrs Aisha Abubakar. We did not support her nomination. We urge President Muhammadu Buhari, to as matter of urgency replace her with a more competent indigene of the state.” The party chairman also said the nominee came from the same senatorial district with the incumbent governor, which is contrary to the political setting of the state.

“We have three senatorial districts. We have the governor form the southern zone, his Deputy came from the central zone and we are expecting a minister to emerge from the eastern zone. Only that arrangement could ensure fairness,” Isa explained.

The meeting was attended by the immediate past governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the incumbent governor, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, APC North West Vice Chairman, Hon Inuwa Abdulkadir, among other party stalwarts.
