Armed Robbers Take Lagos By Storm Again…Cart Away Millions From Diamond Bank, Others

Heavily armed robbers stormed Lagos metropolis again today, raiding two banks in Festac town, Amuwo Odofin local council area of the state, where they carted away millions of naira. The robbery comes more or less as a daring challenge to the military which said it has deployed troops to parts of Lagos to rid them of criminals.
iReports-ng.com gathered that the robbers came on speed boats from the notorious Fatola camp along the Lagos-Ikorodu creek line and stormed the Fourth avenue area of Festac where the banks are located and not far away from the Divisional and Area E Command Headquarters of the police, shooting sporadically into the air before breaking their way into a Diamond bank branch and another bank yet to be confirmed.
The robbers who had a field day packing as much money as they could operated for about two hours before returning to their boats with their loot and sped off. Detachments of policemen deployed to the area could not go near the robbers as they stayed afar shooting into the air, an act the robbers would respond to with sporadic gunshots. The police has however arrested a number of persons in the affected banks and the vicinity for interrogation.
